  2. DESIGNER BORDERS:
  3. This shareware is a sampling from the Designer Borders collection. Designer Borders are created by Joseph Stubbs, © copyright 1991, all rights reserved. For more information on Designer Borders and ordering the collection, refer to the accompanying TeachText entitled "Designer Borders-Ordering". If you would like to keep this sampling without ordering Designer Borders, please send a check for $7 made out to Joseph Stubbs to Designer Borders, Joseph Stubbs, 6535 Shattuck Avenue, Oakland, CA 94609. Telephone: (510) 428-4944.

  5. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
  6. To use Designer Borders you need a Macintosh Plus™ or better with a hard drive, a PostScript printer, and a page layout program that will import EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) documents.

  8. HOW TO USE:  
  9. There are two compressed (or archived) documents in this shareware package. They actually appear as application icons because each file contains programming necessary to decompress a copy of its contents and install these contents where you specify. The archive entitled "Designer Borders-Sampling.sit" contains an EPS document showing the full collection of Designer Borders. The archive entitled "Designer Borders-Mexico.sit" contains the Designer Border called "Mexico" in all of its six sizes and as six separate EPS documents.

To open an archive, double click on it. A window will appear with information on Designer Borders. Click CONTINUE. A dialogue box will appear. Choose where you want the EPS document(s) installed and click INSTALL. The original archive will remain intact at it's present location. A window with a progress bar will appear while installing. To cancel installation while in progress, press Command + period (.). When installation is complete a window will appear reading "Installation was successful". Click QUIT. A folder containing a copy of the archives' contents will now appear at the location you specified.  Inside are EPS documents ready to use.
  11. The different sizes of Designer Borders are letter coded. The following is a key to the sizes represented:
  12. A - 8 1/2" by 11" portrait
  13. B - 8 1/2" by 11" landscape
  14. C - 11" by 17" portrait
  15. E - 8" by 8" square
  16. F - 8 1/2" by 3 2/3" portrait (brochure panel, one-third page)
  17. H - 8 1/2" by 11" landscape (interior brochure, smaller design to match F)
  18. Sizes, given in inches, represent the paper size that a given border is designed to rest in at 100% and without any distortion (stretching, etc.).
